PLOTTING THE CCDB CALDERAS IN QGIS

The CCDB may be linked to a GIS application that permits users to represent the included calderas on a world map, in order to study the spatial distribution of specific features. In order to generate the GIS application in your computer follow the steps below:

  1. Download the .zip  (or .rar) file “GISapplication”
    DOWNLOAD: “GISapplication.rar” or “GISapplication.zip
  2. Extract the folder “GISapplication.rar” or “GISapplication.zip” and copy it inside a folder “CCDB”
  3. Download and install the program QGIS
    QGIS website / Download QGIS 1.4

PLOTTING THE CCDB CALDERAS IN GOOGLE EARTH

GOOGLENow it is possible to plot the calderas included in the CCDB in Google Earth. For this, follow the steps below:

  1. Download the .zip (or .rar) file “CCDB2_0KML”
    DOWNLOAD: “CCDB2_0KML.zip” or “CCDB2_0KML.rar
  2. Extract the folder “CCDB2_0KML.zip” or “CCDB2_0KML.rar” and copy it inside the folder “CCDB”
  3. Download and install the program Google Earth
    Google Earth website
  4. In Google Earth go to: Folder-Open and open the CCDB2_0.kml file included in the “CCDB2_0KML.zip” or “CCDB2_0KML.rar” file you just downloaded.
